Google did not say how much money they have gelontorkan to acquire Waze community-based mapping services. However, through a document, eventually the money finally revealed.
Initially, Google is suppose to spend up to 1.3 billion U.S. dollars, or around Rp 12.7 trillion to acquire the Israeli company. However, based on the document, it is known that Google does not spend money to 1 billion U.S. dollars.
Google, as quoted from BGR, Monday (07/29/2013), turned out to repay a total of 966 million U.S. dollars, or around Rp 10.2 trillion.
In the document, Google is also known to have bought 7 other small companies during the second quarter of 2013. For all these companies, I spend money of 53 million U.S. dollars.
Waze official Google acquired in mid-June 2013 ago. To buy the company, Google beat out several other large companies, such as Facebook, Apple, and Nokia.
Israeli business daily Globes reported, Facebook negotiation failed because Waze wants 110 employees remain in Israel. Google has a large office in Tel Aviv and in the port city of Haifa. This means, Waze employees can keep working in their home country.
Waze was founded in 2008 by Uri Levine, Ehud Shabtai, and Amir Shinar. Waze has 40 million registered users (as of February 2013). As a social GPS application, Waze is able to give direction to the traffic at that location. Owned mapping database is complete and accurate thanks to the donation of the user information.
