Steve Jobs prediction about "Truck" So Reality

In 2008, the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, had to comment on the trend of the computer world in the future. At that time, he likened the traditional computer alias PC as "truck" and modern mobile gadgets as "car".

"When we lived in an agrarian nation, all types of vehicles consisting of a truck because that's needed on the farm," said Jobs, as quoted by AllThingsD that time.

However, Jobs went on that along with the "transition state" is becoming more urban with the growing urban environment, other vehicle types, ie "cars", will increasingly replace the "truck". In the end, the car went on to become the most dominant mode of transportation.

Jobs analogy is not separated from the trend in Uncle Sam there, where the popularity of pickup trucks declined with increasing urbanization. The features seen in previously less truck vehicle types, such as "power steering" (let's say as a parable of power efficiency) and the battery life was suddenly becomes very important.

Five years later, the intent statement that Jobs began to clear. Last week, research firm IDC published its forecast that tablet shipments in the fourth quarter of 2013 will exceed the combined shipment figures desktop and notebook PCs. In 2015, the number of annual shipments of tablet computers predicted to pass through the PC anyway.

Other vehicle types, namely "motorcycle" (smartphones) were, in great demand and the population exploded. IDC estimates that by 2015 this figure device shipments will reach 1.4 billion units worldwide.

Then, what will happen to the "truck"? "They will remain there and remain high-value, but only used by a handful of people," said Jobs, back when he threw those words first.
